LAUNCH OF THE ARABIC VERSION OF THE WEBSITE WWW.ESTERI.IT

Yesterday 29th of  October 2008 was inaugurated the arabic version of the institutional portal of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs www.esteri.it.

The decision to create an Arabic version of the foreign ministry’s web portal —in addition to its English version and Arabic versions already existing on the websites of our embassies and consulates operating in that region— bears clear witness to the foreign ministry’s lively interest in the southern shores of the Mediterranean sea, an area of strategic importance for our country’s foreign policy, especially in light of the recent launch of the Union for the Mediterranean.

With this initiative, aimed at contributing to helping Arabic-speaking societies to know Italy and its policies better, the Italian foreign ministry website joins those of the main European countries that have an Arabic version (France, Germany and UK). Moreover, the portal’s communication potential was recently rewarded with the prestigious Euro-Mediterranean Prize 2008 in the “Euroweb” category as the web-space that best foregrounds relations between Europe and the Mediterranean.
